Our Mission

At the heart of our program, ReLIT NY aims to encourage the public to develop better reading habits, and to revive books as a medium of arts and entertainment in today's digital age.

We strive to do this by making books more accessible; by giving you low-cost, simple and easy ways of reading and obtaining books.

At the same time, by recycling and sharing books, we hope the public will develop an awareness and responsibility towards their own community. We are only the middlemen. It is really you, the public, who is helping by participating, reading, sharing your books and recycling. In inspiring and motivating each citizen of New York, we are really aiming to improve the quality of our community as a whole.

Change of Name:

ReLIT NY launched in July 2009 under the name of Choose What You Read NY- the New York chapter of Choose What You Read which originally began in London. In April 2010, we have redefined our goals and mission and from now on, will operate under ReLIT NY. This is purely for administrative purposes. We are still the same volunteers and our core program will remain much the same.
